A storm of tears at the Pavillon d’Armenonville on Monday 6 November… Of joy, of course! The full list of 2024 winners is now known. And it’s fair to say that they all received their titles with a lot of emotion. Here is a summary of the Gala Gault&Millau 2024 evening.

 

Where did the Gault&Millau 2024 ceremony take place ?

The Gala evening on 6 November was attended by some 550 guests at the Pavillon d’Armenonville, allée de Longchamp, in the 16ᵉ arrondissement of Paris. Among the guests, 16 nominees were anxious to find out if they had been rewarded: Restaurant Manager of the Year, Sommelier of the Year, Pastry Chef of the Year and Chef of the Year… Relive this festive evening of award ceremony in replay on our various streaming channels on Facebook and Youtube.

 

The Gault&Millau 2024 awards list

The Yellow Guide chose to spice up this year’s awards ceremony by naming four talents in each category.

Here is the full list of 2024 winners:

 

For the title of Chef of the Year 2024

Yoann Conte, of the restaurant of the same name in Veyrier-du-Lac, has been crowned Cook of the Year 2024 (link). He was nominated alongside Jérôme Banctel, of the restaurant Le Gabriel – La Réserve Paris Hotel and Spa in Paris, Olivier Bellin, of the Auberge des Glazicks in Plomodiern, and Olivier Couvin, of the restaurant Paul Bocuse in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or.

 

For the of Pastry Chef of the Year 2024 title

This year, the title is written in feminine as Naraé Kim of the Pur’ – Jean-François Rouquette restaurant at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme in Paris has been crowned Pâtissière of the Year 2024. Competing for the title were Benoît Charvet, from the Paul Bocuse restaurant in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, François Josse, from Le Rouge in Nîmes, and Benoît Jabouille, from Restaurant des Rois – La Réserve de Beaulieu in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

 

For the of Sommelier of the Year 2024 title

Following in the footsteps of chef Olivier Nasti in 2023, it’s now the sommelier’s turn to receive the title. Jean-Baptiste Klein, from La Table d’Olivier Nasti in Kaysersberg, is Sommelier of the Year 2024. He was selected alongside Nicolas Parmentier, of Château de la Gaude in Aix-en-Provence, Hervé Baligand, of La Pyramide in Vienne, and Éric Goettelmann, of Relais Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu.

 

For the title of Venue Manager of the Year 2024

Thierry Pruvot, who has worked at the Pré Catelan in Paris for 40 years, has been named Restaurant Manager of the Year 2024. The list of nominees included Claire Sonnet, from the restaurant Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse at the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, Christophe Vuillard, from Georges – Le Grand Monarque in Chartres, and Jessica Chelala, from La Pomme d’Api in Saint-Pol-de-Léon.

 

For the Future Great title

The Gala was also an opportunity to see the six Future Great on stage. You can read their portraits in the French Guide 2024, in bookshops this Thursday 9 November 2023. Here is the list:

  • Ludovic Turac, of the restaurant Une Table, au Sud, in Marseille
  • Félix Robert, of the Arborescence restaurant in Croix
  • Antoine Gras, from the restaurant La Table de l’Ours, in Val-d’Isère
  • Clio Modaffari and Anne Legrand, from the restaurant Le Flibuste, in Villeneuve-Loubet
  • Tristan Weinling, of the Utopie restaurant in Gueberschwihr
  • Mathieu Pérou, of the restaurant Le Manoir de la Régate, in Nantes

 

 

Which chefs cooked at the Gault&Millau 2024 ceremony ?

The four-course menu was orchestrated by four chefs whom you will no doubt already know very well.

  • Mallory Gabsi, from the restaurant of the same name in Paris 17ᵉ, proposed a starter based around blue lobster and caviar.
  • Ludovic Turac, from the Marseille restaurant Une Table, au Sud, cooked the first course, a revisit of the famous bouillabaisse with sea bream.
  • Alessandra Montagne, from NOSSO restaurant in Paris 13ᵉ, prepared a veal fillet with butternut for the second course.
  • Naraé Kim, from PUR’ Jean-François Rouquette restaurant in Paris 2ᵉ, finishes the meal on a high with a delight that combines chocolate and Galápagos coffee.

 

The Gault&Millau 2024 Gala in brief

The evening began with a video retrospective of the year 2023. And what a year it’s been ! The Village de la Gastronomie (in partnership with the Lions Club Gastronomie), the Maison&Objet show, regional guides, the launch of the new “Gault&Millau, le magazine”, 2023 has been full of new projects.

Gault&Millau presented a cheque for €7,500 to the association Les Enfants Cuisinent, which promotes healthy eating in schools.

The Future Great of yesterday, or the Great of today, were on stage to thank Marc Esquerré, the Director of Guides and Surveys who has supported them for the last 20 years.

 

 

Among the many guests present were the chefs, of course, but also the press, partners and loyal supporters of Gault&Millau (Laurent-Perrier, De Buyer, Kaviari, Nespresso, BeWTR, Butard Enescot, Gérard Bertrand, Sysco, Argotier, Roz’ho, and The French Bastards).
